The most common sites of metastasis for kidney cancer are:
- Lymph nodes (most common)
- Lung
Liver
Bone (destructive lesions)
- Adrenal gland
Brain
- Opposite kidney
- Subcutaneous skin nodules
Because these sites are the most common places for kidney cancer metastasis to occur, your doctor may perform imaging studies (e.g. x-ray, CT scan, MRI, and bone scan) to help determine the extent of metastatic kidney cancer.
