What is the prognosis of people with metastatic kidney cancer?
Recent studies have shown that patients with metastatic kidney cancer have a 5-year survival rate of 16-32%. However, newer treatments are rapidly becoming available that may show a long-term survival benefit as studies become available. In just the past few years, there have been a number of new medications which never existed before to treat metastatic kidney cancer.
